why was clocky put in a coconut?

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

BBC contacted us to collaborate on a fun story with them. They asked us, “How would you get off of a deserted island?” Lucky for us, our Chief Technology Officer, Daniel Georgiev, had the answer. He came up with a new twist on the “message in a bottle” method. Clocky gets stripped down and rebuilt: his wheels, with bamboo paddles attached, become the device’s propellor; using a coconut with a message inside, an old compass, some wire, and a small solar panel Clocky can now navigate himself through the sea sending out his “S.O.S.”

You can see the art that, illustrator, James Reekie did for the article by checking out his website here.
